Interessante lavoro del noto professore e fecondo scrittore, sulla natura e sulla manifestazione delle emozioni, che partendo dallo studio in generale del piacere e del dolore, fisico e morale, arriva all'esame delle emozioni più particolari, dall'istinto sessuale al sentimento intellettuale; dalla simpatia al sentimento estetico; dalla memoria affettiva alla paura; sono davvero tanti e molto interessanti gli argomenti trattati. Il tutto in uno stile semplice e snello nelle sapienti descrizioni. Importante e poco comune edizione in ottimo stato.

Tutti noi (gli autori del libro) abbiamo frequentato questo corso all'università perché eravamo interessati agli aspetti patologici del comportamento dell'uomo. Perché alcune persone diventano depresse tanto da non riuscire ad alzarsi dal letto? Perché altre faticano a controllare il loro consumo di alcol o droghe? Perché alcuni individui diventano violenti, sia contro gli altri sia contro se stessi? Tutti noi siamo tuttora molto interessati e affascinati rispetto alle possibili risposte a queste e altre domande sul comportamento patologico dell'uomo. Lo scopo di questo manuale è di fornire un'introduzione globale (e, ci auguriamo, interessante) ai principali disturbi psicologici studiati dalla psicopatologia.
