8756New York: Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute. First Edition. Original wraps. Very Good. 5X7 Inches. Archive of 14 booklets and targets including the "More Fun with your 22 Rifle" booklet. While it may seem unfamiliar to us today the America of the 1940's and 1950's included gun-wielding children in every state. Children were introduced to guns and gun ownership at a very early age. Most schools including those in New York City had pistol and rifle shooting competitions and clubs in the 1950's. Up until 1969 most New York City High Schools had a shooting club; students competed in shooting competitions and the federal government paid for rifles and ammunition. The New York City schools quietly phased out their shooting programs during the 1970s. These early comic-style brochures were marketed for sale to gun retailers as well as manufacturing companies. They were distributed as part of a national decades long campaign to entice children to gun ownership.

This archive contains the original contents of the "Rifle Shooting Instruction Kit" from Remington Peters:

More Fun with your 22 Rifle A Handbook of Interesting Gun Games
How to be an NRA Ranger
How to be a Crack Shot
The 10 Commandments of Safety
10 original practice targets. Noted inside the front cover: "Jack O'connor arms and ammunition editor outdoor life." sadly I find only a couple of pencil marks inside which could possibly be attributed to O'Connor. Charles Cottar a fighter to his fingertips is the kind they don't make any more. He came to Kenya when no fences and no rules were the rule bringing a "can do" spirit with him. He was rugged purposeful and his lifelong big game hunting is revealed in these richly detailed and fascinating stories. This hunting book will create an atmosphere like you've never before experienced. One reviewer said "it comes like a fresh breeze.not for the fainthearted .all the 130 illustrations are of remarkable quality." and finally a noted reviewer said "this is one of the most fascinating books ever published." It tells much of what was once on this dark continent. Fine in like dj. Trophy Room Books hardcover
