Volumes one and two contains the main memoir with volume three acting as a supplementary volume to the work providing illustrations and the letters of Julius and Maria Hare. Written by Augustus John Cuthbert Hare an English writer painter and raconteur. Born the youngest son of Francis George Hare he was adopted by his aunt the widow of British writer Augustus William Hare and his parents renounced all further claims to him. Rebacked in the original half calf with marbled boards. Externally sound with rubbing and minor loss to the extremities. Minor fading to the spines and board edges with the odd small mark.
