A unique copy Inscribed to author and professor John Fain who was friends with the Agrarians close with Andrew Lytle at Vanderbilt and later with Harry Crews at Univ.of Florida. Fain has anotated nearly every page in pencil and apparently mailed the book to Partridge who intern commented on neary every page in ink and inscribed "To John Fain who has so enriched this copy with his comments corrections additions gratefully Eric. Sorry! this implies that I had presented him the copy. His part is the nobler one of having purchased it. 28 February 1978 but not despatched until somewhat later.Sent to Professor John T Fain 3025 S.W. 1st ave Gainesville Florida 32607 U.S.A." Fain authored "Ruskin and the Economists and editor of Donald Davidson's 'The Spyglass: Views and Reviews 1924-1930'. A unique copy supplied with a newer jacket to cover the fair cover. In this copy Partridge has altered the word "languages" on the title page as well as on the dust jacket to read 'language" and he has also scribbled through the price on the dust jacket; on the verso of the half-title Partridge has written in "OP" for out-of-print next to 5 of the 17 works in the list of books by him; and he has made corrections in the text on p. 23 34 and on p.65 where he has written a 2-line note in the bottom margin signed "E.
