Laid in is a 1-page A.L.s. from Partridge to "Amici cari mei" enclosing a 'corrigenda' and an 'addenda' which "will make your copies of Origins as 'good' as the 2nd edition." These corrigenda and addenda are not printed but typed presumably by Partridge on 8" x 11" paper and contain a few amendations in pencil and ink. Macmillan Co unknown

The Art of The Illustrator by Percy V Bradshaw was published in 1918 by The Press Art School Forest Hill London. In 1918 Percy Bradshaw contacted 20 of the leading illustrators of the day and commissioned each of them for a special illustration. Each artist was given an entirely free hand as to subject the only stipulation being that the painting or drawing should be representative of his/her technique and that each stage in its composition should be shown. Bradshaw then reproduced in 6 plates each step in the artistic process and published the 6 lithographs in a portfolio with a 12 page introduction and description of the process within a card folder. 'The Road to Victory' is the pen and ink drawing demonstrated by Bernard Partridge chief cartoonist at "Punch". Artists in this series are Lawson Wood F.H. Includes maps. Glossary. Occcasional footnotes. Another U.K. edition was apparently entitled "Three Men's War". Ralph Hale Mottram October 30 1883 April 16 1971 was an English writer known as a novelist particularly for the Spanish Farm books and as a war poet of World War I. Mottram went from being a bank clerk in Norwich before the war to becoming mayor there in 1953. The Spanish Farm won the 1924 Hawthornden Prize. He also wrote a biography of John Galsworthy. Eric Partridge founded The Scholartis Press in 1927 and it closed in 1931. He served the Australian infantry during the First World War living through the horror of the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The author's presentation copy of this collection of verse from Thomas Warton the Elder and his sons Thomas Warton the Younger and Joseph Warton inscribed by the editor Eric Partridge to fellow author Edward Thompson. First edition.Bound in the publisher's quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Inscribed by Partridge to the author Edward Thompson "To Edward Thompson no grubber in respectable admiration from an unwilling grubber the editor. October 6 1934". In this work Eric Partridge has put together a selection of verse by the Three Wartons; Thomas Warton the Elder and his two sons Thomas Warton the Younger and Joseph Warton. Up until this publication there were very few reprints of the Warton's work so Partridge aimed to bring light to this and give a selection of poetry from all three Wartons. Thomas Warton the Elder was an English clergyman and a professor of poetry at Oxford. Joseph Warton and Thomas Warton the Younger were both well-known for their academia in English with the latter being appointed Poet Laureate in 1785. Partridge included many of their verse as well as a note and a select bibliography of the Warton's work. Bound in the publisher's quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Externally generally smart with rubbing to extremities and some fading to the boards and spine. A little loss to paper to the front board. Ink inscription to front endpaper.
