He urged public ownership of elevators and advocated the creation of a farmer-labour party to establish a `Cooperative Commonwealth' through which social justice could be achieved. The present title though without any literary merit reflects the visionary zeal and hatred for economic inequality that was an important factor in the founding of protest parties such as the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation CCF and the Social Credit Party".
