With the separately printed errata slip mounted at half-title. A PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR WITH HIS SIGNED HOLOGRAPH INSCRIPTION ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. A wonderful elegy of a long career in the last years of sail, including service aboard the square-rigger Elginshire. This is almost an early issue (possibly in a trial binding). BL gives 1947 but the author's inscription is dated October 1946.
