194225663New York/Los Angeles: Samuel French. Good. c.1947 1942. Unstated edition. Softcover. light handling wear a little browning at spine and some dampstaining which for some weird reason has affected only the four photographic plates and nothing else. 4 B&W photographs An early play by Williams -- the next-to-last of his so-called "apprentice plays" -- written in collaboration with his longtime friend Donald Windham. Originally written in 1942 it wasn't staged on Broadway until the Fall of 1945 an event probably made possible by the success of "The Glass Menagerie" which had opened that Spring and was still running. It was the last Broadway appearance of Montgomery Clift before he decamped permanently for Hollywood; he appears in all four of the photos that illustrate this volume albeit at a great distance in one of them. .
