The protagonist Lady Fiammetta recounts her tragic love affair with Panphilus who leaves for Florence where another lover awaits him. Loosely inserted is a publisher's large-format bookmark for want of a better word with some self-promotional text printed on it: 'Mr. Richard Aldington's translation of the Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio is now issued for the first time. It is an eminently satisfying translation. As poet prose writer critic and scholar Mr. Aldington needs no introduction; who could one think of better fitted for translating "The Decameron"'. 2 items.
