Les pièces du catalogue sont présentées par type.Georges Jouve 1910–1961 a célébré à travers de nombreuses oeuvres un art original dont la particularité réside en un subtil équilibre entre la rigueur et l'imaginaire. Ayant découvert les techniques des métiers d'art à l'Ecole Boulle il fréquente dès 1931 les Académies de peinture Grande Chaumière et Julian où l'exigence du dessin et la maîtrise du savoir-faire lui sont transmises. De cet apprentissage Georges Jouve retient deux concepts la qualité et la mesure. C'est ainsi que ses premières pièces réalisées à partir de 1941 s'apparentent d'emblée à la tradition d'un art épris d'un sobre classicisme.Après des années de captivité en Allemagne Georges Jouve s'évade pour se réfugier clandestinement à Nyons - près de Dieulefit dans la Drôme. Il se passionne très vite pour la poterie qui deviendra une vocation à part entière: de 1942 à 1944 il fabriquera des pièces cuites et émaillées dont les formes s'inspirent de la nature ambiante. Mais son goût déjà orienté vers l'art sacré le mène à concevoir des objets à la fois rituels et décoratifs.De retour à Paris en 1945 Georges Jouve installe son atelier rue de la Tombe Issoire où il ne cessera pendant 9 ans de multiplier les formes et de diversifier les usages. 010 Paris, Galerie Jousse, 2006 unknown
