In terms of the arts this period saw the birth of a European space open to traffic and exchanges. All three travelers they discover places and grounds which fifty years earlier they would not have been able to access. Monet went several times to London on the Mediterranean coast to Belle-ÃŽle and as far as Norway. Hodler stays in Munich Paris Italy Spain.
