Scarce. <br/><br/>T.H. Stockton was the Chaplain to Congress during Lincoln's Presidency and was half-brother to Frank Stockton. Rev. Stockton lead the Opening Prayer at the Dedication of the Gettysburg Cemetery preceding Lincoln's Address. This book has 7 engravings by Frank Stockton - his first book appearance. Frank earned his living as a wood engraver until 1866 and invented an engraving tool before turning to writing as a second career. This is his earliest published work but for a pamphlet in 1860 relating to the Civil War. See BAL v.7 p.680. The sketches are by by Darley Hoppin and Others. Baltimore MD.". Dr. Thomas Hepburn Buckler 1812-1901 took his M.D. in 1835 with a thesis on "Animal Heat." He practiced afterwards in Baltimore as physician to the City Almshouse. From 1866 to 1890 he and his family lived in France where he became a physician in Paris under a license from the French government. He was best known as a teacher and writer. The "Medical Annals of Baltimore" gives a list of thirty-two of his writings a great many of them on sanitary and social subjects. unknown
