Contents are clean and there are no inscriptions though outer edges may be foxing and very slightly softening. Each book is 7 inches by 5 inches and the collection would require approx 33 inches shelfspace. The spines are slightly faded with a gilt title and the boards are red a little faded and each has a standard black title. The Life of John Sterling. A biography of the author's friend John Sterling a Scottish author who was employed actively in literature and held a circle of a number of literary friends. Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship and Travels complete in three volumes. A novel centered on the life of Wilhelm Meister a young man who undergoes a journey of self-realization while attempting to escape what he views as the empty life of a bourgeois businessman. After a failed romance with the theater Wilhelm commits himself to the mysterious Tower Society. Translated from the German of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe a German polymath who is widely regarded as the most influential writer in the German language. In the original full cloth binding. Externally smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spines. The odd small mark to the cloth with minor loss to the heads and tails of the spines. Internally firmly bound.
