The Old Northwest is the classic Pulitzer Prize winning account of the pioneer period the problems of settlers and the westward movement of the American people. It covers Ohio Michigan Indiana Illinois Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota. Roscoe Carlyle Buley 1893-1968 was an American historian and educator. During World War I Buley served for a year in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. In 1925-1964 Buley was a professor of history at Indiana University serving as emeritus professor from 1964 until his death. Buley authored numerous articles reviews and books including this his most famous. This is the First Edition Second Printing as stated on copyright page.
