The set comprises: Vivian Grey The Young Duke Popanilla and Other Tales Contarini Fleming Alroy Henrietta Temple Venetia Coningsby Sybil Tancred Lothair Endymion and Falconet. "Philip Guedalla 18891944 was a historian and essayist always more interested in men than movements. His The Second Empire 1922 was a study of the emperor rather than of the empire who made solid contributions to knowledge in titles such as Gladstone and Palmerston 1928 and The Queen and Mr. Gladstone 1933" - ODNB. Bound in cloth with gilt lettering and gilt and embossed decoration and unclipped dustwrappers. Externally smart. There is only some slight wear to the extremities with just some slight bumping. Dustwrapper are sound with come chipping the edges and to the head and tail of the spine resulting in some loss. Some closed tears to each wrap with some slight discolouration to the spines and the occasional foxing. Internally firmly bound.
