1993ABE-3520298360Aperture New York 1993 FIRST PRINTING FIRST EDITION of the hardback issue in a complete jacket. A rare poem by Ursula K. Le Guin at the front and a biographical essay by Raphael Shevelev at the back. A generous collection of superb photographs forms the bulk of the contents with some commentary by the photographer. This is a tight hard cover binding but with two bruised corners. The text block is tight with clean pages although there is some slight tanning to the paper stock common to all issues. A touch of shelf wear to the unclipped dustjacket which is now protected. There is a small random red stain to the top of the text block. No former owner inscriptions and certainly not an ex-library copy although many of the first editions did indeed end up in institutions. Aperture have always treated the reproduction of the pictures with great care and have always used an exceptionally smooth paper for their books. This is a classic example of a highly collectable photography book that has been well looked after but obviously has been looked at and admired as well it might.
