Aufgezogen, mit schwarzer und brauner Tuschlinie umrandet und links unten signiert ?F. Nadorp inv. del.?. Verso am Oberrand und rechts Reste alter Verklebung. Das in der Tradition der italienischen Madonnenbilder mit zwei Knaben, dem Christuskind und dem Johannes-Knaben stehende Blatt war sicher ein Entwurf für ein Andachtsbild. Nach Henk van Os ist der Hinweis Nadorps ?inv? in dem Sinne zu verstehen, daß es sich hier um keine Kopie handelt, von denen Nadorp zahlreiche anfertigte (vgl. Der Zeichner Franz Nadorp 1794-1876. Ein romantischer Künstler aus Anholt. Werke aus dem Besitz der Fürsten zu Salm-Salm in Anholt ausgewählt und bearbeitet von einer Projektgruppe des Kunsthistorischen Instituts der Universität Groningen unter Leitung von Henk van Os, S. 49f., Groningen 1976). In unserem Blatt durchbricht Nadorp die klassische Dreieckskomposition nach Raffael durch Hinzufügen einer vierten Person, Elisabeth links im Bildfeld).
