This is a collection of two copies of A Selection of Aesop's Fables from a New Translation for Modern Readers one of which has been rebound by Eric Sweet in brown cloth with marbled endpapers. For syntactic clarity this will be referred to as volume one.Volume two remains in the publisher's original binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Both copies are contained within a mint green cloth chemise and matching cloth slipcase.Each copy contains 13 illustrations by Mary Honor Stonehouse. Collated complete.Aesop was a storyteller who is thought to have lived in ancient Greece around the 6th century BCE. He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty wisdom and kindness.
