Ferenc Berko 1916 - 2000 a Hungarian-born photographer is recognized as one of the 100 most important photographers of the 20th century. Though Berko is best known for his black-and-white photos which take on silhouettes and negative space and - of course light - he was actually more widely recognized as a pioneer of color photography becoming one of the first to recognize that color film was a new way to explore the world. A long time resident of Aspen Colorado He became the official photographer for the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies and the Aspen Music Festival and opened his own mountainside ski photography business.
