Formerly published under the title 'My Night-Gown and Slippers' this edition of Colman's humorous writings includes a number of additional coarse satirical verses. Volume 2: The first edition of Henry Lutrell's Advice to Julia his most famous work of London society verse. Volume 3: The Pleasure of Making a Will which is an extract from William Kitchiner's 'The Art of Invigorating and Prolonging Life'. Volume 4: The first edition of Sketches of Young Ladies by "Quiz" Edward Caswall illustrated by "Phiz". Volume 5: The first edition of Sketches of Young Gentlemen by Charles Dickens also illustrated by "Phiz" written as a satirical response to Caswall's Sketches of Young Ladies the previous title in this volume. Grazie al noto traduttore dall'inglese (ed amico di Collins) Emile Daurand-Forgues, appare qui in volume per la 1a volta il dramma "Le Phare" (The Lighthouse); come spiega l'autore nelle pagine (277-284) prefatorie datate Londra, 1° luglio 1856, il testo non era mai stato pubblicato in inglese, ma solo messo in scena privatamente dall'amico e sodale Charles Dickens (che vi aveva anche ricoperto il ruolo principale, recitando con figlia e cognata), presso la sua residenza di Tavistock-House il 16, 18 e 19 giugno 1855. Prima serie in ottime condizioni; alla seconda serie: strappi restaurati, con minime perdite di testo reintegrate calligraficamente a 7 carte nelle novelle "Le Secret de Famille" e "Fauntleroy".
