Wall has also signed the limitation block and written "Personal" likely meaning this was a personal copy for his own use. And he has signed in pencil the six etchings that he produced for the book. Very good with light soiling and minor edgewear to boards in a very good plain gray dustwrapper. This is apparently Part 13 out of 13 volumes in the set. Not listed in the Internet Broadway Database but an early performance was reviewed by Clive Barnes for the New York Times on March 27 1973.<br /> <br /> Playwright N. Richard Nash is best known for "The Rainmaker" 1954 adapted to the screen by Nash in 1956 and starring Burt Lancaster and Katharine Hepburn.<br /> <br /> In "Echoes" Tilda Lynn Milgrim and Sam David Selby debate reality happiness and their sanity while in what appears to be an asylum. They are both under constant surveillance of the psychiatrist named "The Person" Paul Tripp.<br /> <br /> Yellow Studio Duplicating Service titled wrappers with credits for playwright N. 1952137373Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1952. Revised Final Draft script for the 1954 film. Studio File Copy rubber-stamped on the front wrapper. Three front wrappers are present each with varying rubber-stamps to indicate different drafts and each noting different directors: Thorpe who received final credit Mervyn LeRoy and Curtis Bernhardt. Brief annotations in holograph pencil on the verso of one page. <br/><br/>Based on the 1924 operetta of the same name by Sigmund Romberg and Dorothy Donnelly which in turn was based on the 1901 play "Old Heidelburg" by Wilhelm Eyer-Forster itself filmed four times between 1915 and 1959. <br/><br/>Mario Lanza was originally slated to star in the film but a dispute with MGM led him to getting fired from the picture. However MGM retained the rights to his already recorded vocals and had replacement Edmund Purdom lip sync them in the film. Ironically the songs "Beloved" and "Serenade" would become heavily associated with Lanza after the film and cast recording were hits. <br/><br/>Goldenrod titled wrappers noted as FINAL and COMPLETE on the front wrapper rubber-stamped copy No. 172 and production No. 1596 dated 7/18/52 with credits for screenwriters Ludwig and Levien producer Joe Pasternak and director Thorpe. 324 leaves with last leaf of text being the fourth page of a summary dated 11/12/53 and three front wrappers. Mimeograph duplication dated variously between 7/2/52 and 11/12/53 with pink and white revision pages throughout dated variously between 8/11/52 and 1/4/54. Fore- tips of boards worn with chips to the extended crown and toe of the spine tape small chip to fore-edge of front free endsheet two leaves show a bit of marginal foxing but a good internally very good copy. First edition. Copy #1 of fifty numbered copies signed by the author and artist/printer/publisher. Comprised of fourteen original copper-plate etchings by Wall plus the label printed in various colors. In his monograph on Wall's work F.J. Weber reports the edition consisted of one hundred copies. Given the nature of the production at some point after this copy was printed Wall could easily have elected to enlarge the edition to accommodate a greater number of orders than expected. WEBER p.33. First edition of this cheeky and satirical semi-autobiographical memoir by the superstar actress documenting her adventures in an escaped balloon over the L’Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878 with her lover Clairin 1843-1919 who had painted the famed salon Portrait of Bernhard 1844-1923. Lured back in 1878 to the Comedie Francaise the brilliant star with a chancy temper had been requested by the balloon’s owner to make the maiden voyage ascent but a storm ripped it from its moorings and they eventually landed outside Paris. Subsequently she refused to pay the 100 Francs fine as she had left Paris without permission. The publication is issue #1890 of the of the promotional supplement to the German weekly Illustrierter Film-Kurier promoting the release of the 1932 German film "Der Rebell" starring Luis Trenker. The booklet is profusely illustrated throughout with b/w photogravure images and photomontage depicting scenes and characters from the film. Co-directed by Trenker himself this mountain film is set in Tyrol and tells the story of Severin Anderlan based on real life figure Andreas Hofer who leads a revolt against occupying French forces in 1809 during the Napoleonic Wars. An English-language version of the film was released the following year. This Deutsche-Universal production was produced by Paul Kohner who would later go on the become among the leading Hollywood talent agents upon his emigration to the United States. Text throughout including cast and crew credits in German.<br /> <br /> Wrappers with light rubbing along the spine and small pieces of scotch tape at the head and tail.
