Starring actress Signoret is prominently featured looking pensive or embracing costar Mastroianni and in stunning group images with her female costars. Numerical annotations in holograph pencil on the versos five with Contino's rubberstamp and two are dupes made by the original developer. <br/><br/>Based on an original screenplay about the 1958 Merlin Law making brothels illegal in Italy. Adua Signoret and her three friends are prostitutes whose brothel in Rome is shut down. Adua convinces them to pool their savings to open a restaurant to generate a living instead of returning to prostitution. Their permit is rejected because of their lurid history but a former client agrees to buy the building and hire them to run a brothel fronting as a restaurant charging them rent. The restaurant is ironically successful and Adua even romances Piero Mastroianni but her landlord's excessive rent finally vanquishes her hopes for a brighter future. She holds her ground against the man but no moral deed is without consequences in the underworld and she is last seen as her destitute former self. <br/><br/>Petrangeli also directed "She Wolf" 1953 Visconti's "Ossessione" 1943 assistant director and screenwriter and Rossellini's "Europe '51" 1952 second assistant director; he was a prolific filmmaker in the Commedia all'italiana and died while shooting his last film "How When and with Whom" 1969. <br/><br/>7 x 9.5 inches some slightly smaller. Copy belonging to episode director Derwin Abrahams with his name as Derwin Abbe on the front wrapper in holograph pencil and holograph pencil annotations on nearly every page. <br/><br/>Based on the character created by Michael Arlen which first appeared in 1940 short story published in "Town & Country" magazine. The character would go on to appear in 15 films throughout the 1940s as well as a radio serial before finally being adapted as this early syndicated television show which ran for 39 episodes between 1954 and 1956. <br/><br/>Beige titled wrappers noted as production No. 216 dated May 18 1954. 54 leaves with last page of text numbered 47. With two printed mimeo snipes affixed to the verso along with an agency stamp. From the archive of the PIX Agency a photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers as well as those still living in Europe and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.<br/><br/>Miller's play premiered on Broadway at the ANTA Washington Square Theatre on January 23 1964 and ran for a successful 208 performances although not without facing a fair amount of criticism for its thinly veiled cynical portrayal of Marilyn Monroe from whom Miller had recently been divorced. Vintage German A1 poster for the 1972 film. <br/><br/>Herzog's film is notorious for both its style and its eventful production in which Kinski fired a gun accidentally injuring a crew member and Herzog ostensibly stole a group of monkeys due to ship to the US to use in the famous monkey scene. Despite the chaotic and often contentious production period the film immediately achieved cult status upon its release. 1969133199N.p.: N.p. 1969. Vintage oversize double weight candid photograph of Alan Arkin Art Garfunkel and Martin Sheen on the set of Mike Nichols' "Catch-22" in 1969. Shot and struck by the film's still photographer Bob Willoughby. The photographer has written at the top of the verso in holograph pencil: "Candid during rehearsal / The boys break up in briefing room scene / Art Garfunkel Alan Arkin Martin Sheen." Also with Willoughby's ASMP rubber stamp for both his New York and Ireland addresses. Full provenance available. <br/><br/>After studying with Saul Bass at the Kann Institute of Art in Los Angeles photographer Robert Willoughby began working for magazines such as "Life" "Look" and "Harper's Bazaar" in the late 1940s. He spent the next 20-plus years as a set photographer for every major studio and magazine with his images seen in print literally every week of his career. One photograph SIGNED and dated 1969 by photographer Alan Pappe on the verso all photographs with his stamp. <br/><br/>All five photographs feature legendary Italian director Federico Fellini in his cameo role as himself with one showing the director on the set with a clapboard and crew members in front of him while a second features a holograph pencil annotation describing Fellini and actor Donald Sutherland discussing a scene with an out-of-frame director Paul Mazursky. <br/><br/>Pappe worked as a film still and press photographer for 30 years covering a who's who of film and music stars including iconic images of Sharon Tate Jimi Hendrix and Liza Minnelli as well as album cover for the "Grease" soundtrack album and the interior images of Jefferson Airplane's "After Bathing at Baxter's." Two photographs for airings of the 1977 film on French public television channel France 3. <br/><br/>The first photograph for a September 6 1978 airing is borderless and shows director Chabrol and star Kristel in between takes with the stamp of photographer Robert Cohen and a mimeo snipe on the verso. <br/><br/>The second photograph for an October 2 1986 airing is of a topless Sylvia Kristel with a mimeo snipe on the verso. <br/><br/>Chabrol riffs on both "Alice in Wonderland" and the popular 1970s horror mini-genre where a beautiful young woman becomes trapped through supernatural means in a house after seeking shelter there. In this case it's "Emmanuelle" star Sylvia Kristel whose car breaks down in the middle of the night after she walks out on her husband and Chabrol is more interested in her journey toward emancipation than actual horror. <br/><br/>Both photographs 7 x 5 inches.
