1973142419New York: Wroderick Productions 1973. Draft script for a 1973 Roderick Cook adaptation of the 1929 Noel Coward musical likely written after Cook's 1972 musical review of Coward's work entitled "Oh Coward!" <br/><br/>A three act operetta in which a wealthy young woman elopes with her music teacher. Coward's original script was basis for the 1933 film directed by Herbert Wilcox and the 1940 film directed by WS Van Dyke. The Van Dyke film was so disliked by Coward that he vowed to never let Hollywood adapt one of his works again. <br/><br/>Adaptation writer/actor Roderick Cook worked extensively with Coward's material his best-known work being a highly well-received 1972 musical review of Coward's work entitled "Oh Coward!" While it is believed that Cook's adaptation of "Bitter Sweet" was never performed professionally and the material in this script was not utilized in "Oh Coward!" it was likely written after Cook's considerable success with the review encouraged him to take another look at Coward's oeuvre. <br/><br/>Set in London and Vienna. <br/><br/>Pink titled wrappers with credits for playwright Noel Coward and adaptation writer Roderick Cook. A large format rehearsal script for the 1971- 1973 roadshow revival of Shaw's dramatic piece a free standing scene from Act 3 of MAN AND SUPERMAN. The production was directed by John Housman and starred Ricardo Montalban Paul Henreid Agnes Moorehead and Edward Mulhare. This copy bears the ownership and address stamp of Paul Henreid who played the role of the Statue in the performances in Boston Chicago Los Angeles and New York in the latter as the "Commander". Throughout this script the lines for the Statue have been highlighted and annotated with prompts and revisions presumably for or by Henreid. Henried born Paul Georg Julius Freiherr von Hernreid Ritter von Wasel-Waldingau 1908- 1992 had a long and active career on stage and in film and television as both actor and director. He is most widely recognized for his role as Victor Laszlo in CASABLANCA 1942. unknown books

A preproduction script for this adaptation for NBC's radio series "Great Plays" scheduled for production on Sunday 9 March 1941. The series first aired on NBC Blue in Spring of 1938 and was until its suspension in 1942 one of its most prestigious undertakings. This production was included in its fourth season. The specific cast for the broadcast is not included in this script and presumably drew upon the substantial stable of performers the show engaged for its season. 1972133021San Diego CA: Legend Films 1972. Draft British script for the 1973 film. <br/><br/>Alec Guinness plays here against type imbuing his Adolf Hitler with an introverted solemnity. Set almost entirely inside Hitler's Berlin bunker the film chronicles the dying days of the Third Reich as the Allied armies close in on Berlin. Guinness' Hitler is an enclosed depressive who sinks slowly into madness depression and ultimately suicide as his 1000-Year Reich collapses around him. <br/><br/>A co-production between Italy and the UK made by Ennio De Concini better known for his many exploitation films of the 1970s. <br/><br/>Blue titled wrappers with a die-cut title window in the British style. Title page present dated 10th July 1972 with credits for screenwriter-director De Concini screenwriters Fusco and Reinhardt and English adaptation writer Moffat. 128 leaves roneograph on eye-rest green stock. 1957142883Paris: Cinedis 1957. Collection of 14 vintage photographs and color transparencies from the 1957 French-Italian film. Nearly all photographs are contact sheets with 34 color transparencies 24 are medium-format and 5 are mounted. Starring actors Fernandel and Gray comprise most of the collection and the contact sheets consist of candid images of Fernandel director Boyer noted director Christian-Jacques and Fernandel in various accouterments surrounded by female members of the cast. Only a few contact sheets have less than 12 numbered frames amounted to 146 images. Striking images of both Gray and Patrick are scattered throughout the transparencies. <br/><br/>Fernandel stars as a talentless actor who fails to find work and turns to imitating people he sees on the street a stunt that lands him in court where he finally has a chance to showcase his acting ability. Fernandel was France's leading funny man for decades and Gray would go on to her best-known role in Federico Fellini's masterpiece "La Dolce Vita" 1960. Liliane Patrick's debut film later credits include "Maxime" 1958 "Julie the Redhead" 1959 and "A fleur de peau" 1962. <br/><br/>Transparencies housed in original glassine and paper envelopes four with annotations in holograph ink. Two slips of paper one on Cinedis parchment noting various photo sizes and quantities in holograph ink and in French are included. Brief notation in holograph pencil on the verso of the 5 x 7 photograph. All housed in original French Kodak photo box French title label affixed to the lid with annotations in holograph ink. <br/><br/>Sizes range from 2.25 x 4.75 to 7 x 9.25 inches. Very Good plus overall photos with light curling some with faint creases several contact sheets with bruises to one edge and light staining and wrinkling to mounted transparencies. The Bible Society of Philadelphia founded in 1808 with Bp. William White as its first president was the first Bible society organized in the United States. It published this the first stereotype Bible printed in the U.S. from plates imported from London; the B.F.B.S. contributed £500 towards the purchase of the plates and they were admitted to the U.S. free of import duties. 1961144012Paris: Cinedis 1961. Archive of 14 original single weight black-and-white photographs and various ephemera from the 1961 film here under the original French title. The photographs numbered on the versos in holograph pencil detail costumes for starring actors Marina Vlady and Jean Marais an exhibit of film stills and costume designs at a bookshop called "Lavocat" costumes displayed at tge shop "Delvaux" and the ephemera consists of a press packet detailing film credits and biographies an invitation for two to the premiere on March 26 at the Marivaux cinema a small slip with annotations in holograph ink and a carbon typescript from Maryse Martres to "Madame Armon" at Delvaux regarding the costumes. Housed in a large manila folder. <br/><br/>Based de La Fayette's 1678 anonymously published novel France's first historical novel widely regarded as an early psychological novel. The Princess marries a much older prince Marais but yearns for a handsome duke Poron. Her fidelity eventually coming into question. Marais also starred in Delannoy's and Cocteau's other collaboration "Love Eternal" 1943. Delannoy directed over 50 films at first well-regarded dissipating at the end of his career with several B-grade films. Costuming for the film was produced by Pierre Cardin and Marcel Escoffier both also worked together on "Beauty and the Beast" 1946 and "Fernandel the Dressmaker" 1956. <br/><br/>Martres Martin was a prolific French actress since 1948 notably "Girl on the Third Floor" 1955 and "The Happy Road" 1957 and she was later involved in press relations at Cinedis a notable film agency in operation since the Silent Film era. Kishi was born in 1932 and became a Japanese actress and writer. She married director Ciampi in 1957. Since 1996 she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA. The Delvaux shop has been producing leather goods mostly handbags since the 19th century with central locations in Belgium. <br/><br/>Photos range from 6.75 x 9 inches to 7.25 x 10.5 inches. Two Revised Draft scripts "Frankenstein - Part 1" and "Frankenstein - Part 2" for the two part television film "Frankenstein" which aired two two hour episodes on January 16 and 17 1973 on ABC's "Wide World of Mystery." Name of uncredited crew member David Dyer and "filming 12-18-72" on top right of each script in holograph ink. With holograph ink annotations to the credits of "Part 1."<br/><br/>Dan Curtis creator of the popular ABC vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows" 1967-1971 adapted and produced this version of the classic Mary Shelley 1818 novel with "Dark Shadows" screenwriter Sam Hall penning "Part 1" and screenwriter Richard Landau penning "Part 2."<br/><br/>Curtis' "Frankenstein" is a fairly faithful adaptation shot with television broadcasts cameras in Curtis' gothic soap opera style with a memorable performance from Bo Svenson as the monster.<br/><br/>Though well received when aired it was overshadowed by the Universal Television production "Frankenstein: The True Story" which aired in late 1973 on NBC. <br/><br/>"Frankenstein - Part 1"<br/>Red titled wrappers. Hinkley 1923. 8vo. 14 vols. 70 plts. <br><br>This handsome and much-sought edition of the King James Bible was printed at the Merrymount Press and limited to 2574 sets: 1000 on wove paper 1000 on laid paper 488 on handmade paper and 86 on Japan paper. This set is #233 printed on handmade paper and contains 70 fine plates usually 5 per volume and mostly photogravures after paintings. The edition was designed for smooth reading and the text is set in ordinary paragraphs without chapter and verse numbers.<br>Â Â Â Â This work has a complicated and as yet not fully explained printing history. It was probably first printed in 1904 with sheets reissued or reprinted at various times in the subsequent two decades. Even the name of the publisher on the title-page varies; "The Grolier Society" sometimes appears in place of Hinkley.<br>Â Â Â Â Binding: Publisher's quarter tan pigskin spine leather over deeply grained polished bare wooden boards with bevelled edges on the three outer sides in the style of incunable and 16th-century books. From the estate of actor Monte Blue who starred in the film. <br/><br/>Included in the archive are a carbon typescript draft script here under the working title "Southern Skies" four vintage photographs each with a mimeo snipe on the verso one with a press stamp as well and a later 1921 edition of the 1919 travel book by Frederick O'Brien which served as the source material for the film signed and dated by Blue with his bookplate on the front pastedown. <br/><br/>MGM's first film with a fully prerecorded soundtrack comprised of music and sound effects including most notably the first time the company's mascot Leo the Lion roared at the film's start White Shadows in the South Seas doesn't quite classify as a "talkie" as only the single whispered word "hello" appears in the soundtrack. A comedy of manners set in 18th century Bath where three suitors quarrel over the love of one woman. In this hypothetical casting Tony-winning Broadway actor Jose Ferrer assumed the role of Bob Acres a buffoonish country suitor to young Lydia played by Laura Hope-Crews. This copy is one of 1000 designated "The Subscriber's" version with => two original leaves from the 1611 printing one from the Old Testament leaf Fff2 Psalms 88:6 through 90:5 and one from the New leaf K3 John 8:39 through 9:41. Both leaves are in excellent condition.<br>Â Â Â Â This book is very large and extremely heavy and will require considerable extra shipping charges. Frontis. engr. t.-p. 58 912 18 25 1 206 2 17 1 blank pp. <br><br>When the Jesuit scholars at Rheims succeeded in printing their Catholic translation of the New Testament into English first edition 1582 the event affected various English Protestant scholars in different ways: Some were offended or outraged others intrigued and yet others spurred to action. William Fulke of Pembroke College Cambridge was among those offended outraged and spurred: In 1589 he produced the first edition of his work attempting to refute the Rheims New Testament. His approach however which was to print the Rheims NT in parallel columns with the Bishops' NT the then accepted version of the Church of England supplying accompanying notes and explanations had unforeseen consequences.<br>Â Â Â Â As Darlow and Moule comment "by printing the Rheims Testament in full side by side with the Bishops' version Fulke secured for the former a publicity which it would not otherwise have obtained and was indirectly responsible for the marked influence which Rheims exerted on the Bible of 1611." Alan Thomas elaborates by observing that "many a dignified or felicitous phrase was silently lifted by the editors of King James's Version and thus passed into the language" Great Books and Book Collectors p. 108.<br>Â Â Â Â This is the fourth edition "wherein are many grosse absurdities corrected."
