1961144012Paris: Cinedis 1961. Archive of 14 original single weight black-and-white photographs and various ephemera from the 1961 film here under the original French title. The photographs numbered on the versos in holograph pencil detail costumes for starring actors Marina Vlady and Jean Marais an exhibit of film stills and costume designs at a bookshop called "Lavocat" costumes displayed at tge shop "Delvaux" and the ephemera consists of a press packet detailing film credits and biographies an invitation for two to the premiere on March 26 at the Marivaux cinema a small slip with annotations in holograph ink and a carbon typescript from Maryse Martres to "Madame Armon" at Delvaux regarding the costumes. Housed in a large manila folder. <br/><br/>Based de La Fayette's 1678 anonymously published novel France's first historical novel widely regarded as an early psychological novel. The Princess marries a much older prince Marais but yearns for a handsome duke Poron. Her fidelity eventually coming into question. Marais also starred in Delannoy's and Cocteau's other collaboration "Love Eternal" 1943. Delannoy directed over 50 films at first well-regarded dissipating at the end of his career with several B-grade films. Costuming for the film was produced by Pierre Cardin and Marcel Escoffier both also worked together on "Beauty and the Beast" 1946 and "Fernandel the Dressmaker" 1956. <br/><br/>Martres Martin was a prolific French actress since 1948 notably "Girl on the Third Floor" 1955 and "The Happy Road" 1957 and she was later involved in press relations at Cinedis a notable film agency in operation since the Silent Film era. Kishi was born in 1932 and became a Japanese actress and writer. She married director Ciampi in 1957. Since 1996 she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA. The Delvaux shop has been producing leather goods mostly handbags since the 19th century with central locations in Belgium. <br/><br/>Photos range from 6.75 x 9 inches to 7.25 x 10.5 inches. 1957142883Paris: Cinedis 1957. Collection of 14 vintage photographs and color transparencies from the 1957 French-Italian film. Nearly all photographs are contact sheets with 34 color transparencies 24 are medium-format and 5 are mounted. Starring actors Fernandel and Gray comprise most of the collection and the contact sheets consist of candid images of Fernandel director Boyer noted director Christian-Jacques and Fernandel in various accouterments surrounded by female members of the cast. Only a few contact sheets have less than 12 numbered frames amounted to 146 images. Striking images of both Gray and Patrick are scattered throughout the transparencies. <br/><br/>Fernandel stars as a talentless actor who fails to find work and turns to imitating people he sees on the street a stunt that lands him in court where he finally has a chance to showcase his acting ability. Fernandel was France's leading funny man for decades and Gray would go on to her best-known role in Federico Fellini's masterpiece "La Dolce Vita" 1960. Liliane Patrick's debut film later credits include "Maxime" 1958 "Julie the Redhead" 1959 and "A fleur de peau" 1962. <br/><br/>Transparencies housed in original glassine and paper envelopes four with annotations in holograph ink. Two slips of paper one on Cinedis parchment noting various photo sizes and quantities in holograph ink and in French are included. Brief notation in holograph pencil on the verso of the 5 x 7 photograph. All housed in original French Kodak photo box French title label affixed to the lid with annotations in holograph ink. <br/><br/>Sizes range from 2.25 x 4.75 to 7 x 9.25 inches. Very Good plus overall photos with light curling some with faint creases several contact sheets with bruises to one edge and light staining and wrinkling to mounted transparencies. Ms. Henry played one of three "phantoms" in the play who do not speak but who are generally present. Nothing is known about the production of this play the playwright or the actors involved but the nature of the mimeograph would place the production in the late 1950s or early 1960s. <br/><br/>Tan side-stapled wrappers with credits for screenwriter Bergman and playwright Vinciguerra in typescript at the upper center of the front wrapper. 27 leaves mimeograph duplication. First Edition. <br/><br/>Harry Kurnitz's adaptation of Marcel Achard's play "L'Idiote" which in turn became the basis for the 1964 Blake Edwards film "A Shot in the Dark" starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau and Elke Sommer as the Swedish gal who can't resist him. <br/><br/>Probably one of five funniest films of the 1960s and the defining installment in the well-loved Pink Panther series. While "A Shot in the Dark" was ably preceded by "The Pink Panther" in 1963 it was the first to feature the series' underrated maestro Herbert Lom as Chief Inspector Dreyfus. <br/><br/>Very Good in a Very Good dust jacket. Also reprint of interview with Belasco and a tribute to Belasco. Belasco now known by most merely as the name of a theater was one of the leading theater impresarios and a flamboyant showmen in New York in the late 19th and early 20th century noted especially for his crowd-pleasing stage effects and popular entertainments. Guinness' Hitler is an enclosed depressive who sinks slowly into madness depression and ultimately suicide as his 1000-Year Reich collapses around him. <br/><br/>A co-production between Italy and the UK made by Ennio De Concini better known for his many exploitation films of the 1970s. <br/><br/>Blue titled wrappers with a die-cut title window in the British style. Frontis. engr. t.-p. 58 912 18 25 1 206 2 17 1 blank pp. <br><br>When the Jesuit scholars at Rheims succeeded in printing their Catholic translation of the New Testament into English first edition 1582 the event affected various English Protestant scholars in different ways: Some were offended or outraged others intrigued and yet others spurred to action. William Fulke of Pembroke College Cambridge was among those offended outraged and spurred: In 1589 he produced the first edition of his work attempting to refute the Rheims New Testament. His approach however which was to print the Rheims NT in parallel columns with the Bishops' NT the then accepted version of the Church of England supplying accompanying notes and explanations had unforeseen consequences.<br>Â Â Â Â As Darlow and Moule comment "by printing the Rheims Testament in full side by side with the Bishops' version Fulke secured for the former a publicity which it would not otherwise have obtained and was indirectly responsible for the marked influence which Rheims exerted on the Bible of 1611." Alan Thomas elaborates by observing that "many a dignified or felicitous phrase was silently lifted by the editors of King James's Version and thus passed into the language" Great Books and Book Collectors p. 108.<br>Â Â Â Â This is the fourth edition "wherein are many grosse absurdities corrected." A portrait of William Fulke precedes the engraved title-page both done by William Marshall.
