Many of the tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. Each volume contains two of these classic tales. Volume one contains twenty-seven tales including: The Dog and His Shadow The Lion and The Mouse and The Hare and The Tortoise amongst others. Volume two contains twenty-nine tales including: The Fox and The Grapes The Farmer and His Sons and The Kid and The Wolf amongst others. With illustrations from Ernest Gristet a French-born painter and illustrator noted for the humorous interpretations of his subjects and Joe Burton a British artist and illustrator.
