Le Prince de Beaumont has therefore been added to this collection. It has also been increased space_ permitting it by the insertion of two tales by Mme. la Comtesse d Aulnoy; her writings of a les robust lass than those of Perrault possess in their atmosphere of hidden magic the charm which resides in that special feature of fairyland and the addition of cc The Benevolent Frog' and c Princess Rosette will not we think be unwelcome to the youthful reader.

About the author:
Charles Perrault January 12 1628 - May 16 1703 was a French author and member of the Académie Française. He laid the foundations for a new literary genre the fairy tale with his works derived from earlier folk tales published in his 1697 book Histoires ou contes du temps passé.
