Paris: Editions Seghers 1953. A fine copy of this extremely rare and beautiful broadside in excellent condition with the colours bright and fresh. Leger's strong continuous flow of colour across the broadside illuminates Eluard's elegaic and celebrated poem praising those who struggled in WWII to protect and defend the eternal liberty of France. This copy 'HC/1' of 12 hors-commerce copies from a total of 212 with a warm inscription from Pierre Seghers "A mon ami le plus cher Au poète qui est mon patron en édition et en poésie".
