Rare ensemble de 23 cartes (sur 25) formant un abécédaire militaire lithographié et colorié au pochoir, dos muets, chaque carte suit le même modèle : en tête une initiale d'imprimerie, au centre une gravure finement réalisée illustrant une scène extérieure, et en pied une légende en écriture cursive, en français et en anglais (Fourrage/Forage, Gendarme/Policeman, Infanterie/Infantry, etc.). La carte Z diffère légèrement de ce modèle, avec en tête le titre de l'abécédaire et la majuscule d'imprimerie en pied entre les deux mots de la légende 'Zèle/Zeal'. Exemplaire sans les cartes D et O, petit manque et pliure en tête de la carte E, par ailleurs bel exemplaire aux couleurs très bien conservées pour cet intéressant témoignage historique. Very Good Russian Very attractive early Russian edition of this famous Georgian national poem 'The knight in the panther skin', richly illustrated in very well binding. This is a Georgian medieval epic poem, written in the 12th century by Georgia's national poet Shota Rustaveli, and a definitive work of the Georgian Golden Age, the poem consists of over 1600 Rustavelian Quatrains and is considered to be a "masterpiece of the Georgian literature". Original decorative green cloth bdg. with Rustaveli's embossed portrait. Art-nouveau borders on board. Faded titles and decorations on spine. A very good copy. 4to. (27 x 20 cm). In Russian. Shalva Nutshubidze, (1888-1969), was a Georgian philosopher, translator, and public benefactor, one of the founders of the Tbilisi State University (TSU), founder of Alethology. The main fields of scientific activity of Shalva Nutsubidze were: alethology, history of Georgian philosophy, history of the old Georgian literature, Rustvelology, problems of the oriental renaissance. He was also a well-known translator: he translated The Knight in the Panther's Skin of Shota Rustaveli, Visramiani, and other outstanding literary works in Russian. Nutsubidze is co-author of a well-known theory about the identity of Pseudo-Denys Areopagite and Georgian philosopher of the 5th century Peter the Iberian (Theory of Nutsubidze-Honigmann).

Dark brown printed wrappers stitched with brown thread. . Narrow quarto. Each page is illustrated some with multiple images in black white and orange and printed on brown paper. Very minor edgewear else a fine crisp copy of a scarce piece of advertising. In the present work there is an illustration for each letter accompanied by rhyming verse. One such example is: "F is for First / like the boy in the race /Just like Palmer Tires which hold the first place." The alphabet and verses are followed by a list of tires sold by Goodrich examples include "The Regular Roadster" which is "The Universal Tire for Pleasure Business General Riding Road Uses and Road Racing. L'opera, contiene raffinati alfabeti riccamente ornati. rarissimo, manca a Marzoli-Morison, Jenssen, Guilmard e Berlin-Katalog. Il nostro esemplare corrisponde esattamente a quello descritto da Bonacini e Choix. Berlin-katalog n°4853 e Bonacini 1769 hanno un esemplare con una parte di 14 tavole e una di 10, da non confondere con la nostra edizione che ha titolo diverso, è a se stante e ben completa. Peintre, dessinateur et sculpteur, il illustre l'abécédaire d'une composition par feuillet, imprimé en recto. Deux lettres rouges en tête minuscule et majuscule d'imprimerie, un enfant grimé au centre, personnage de théâtre célèbre : Arlequin, Bobèche, Crispin, Debureau, Eraste... dont le nom est inscrit en écriture cursive en dessous. Une dernière page illustre le W d'un bouffon masqué dont les bras croisent les jambages de la lettre bleu et rouge. ; Très bon exemplaire.
