Over 15,000 items thoroughly described. Title-pages in Hebrew, Russian, Latin, and German. Text in Hebrew (some titles in Yiddish), in two columns. Over 700 pp. Printed in a very small edition, much of which has surely been destroyed. WITH THE 481-PAGE SUPPLEMENT BY MENACHEM MENDEL SLATKINE, published in 1965. Slatkine provides numerous additions, corrections, and notes to the original work, as well a s a complete index. Small 4tos. Bound in original hardcover bindings. Light wear, else fine and bright. Slatkine also has dustjacket (none issued with Benjacob). Brisman gives a long, detailed, and highly favorable account of these works (A History and Guide to Judaic Bibliography, pp. 19-24, 33, etc.), in which he calls them "the most reliable and accurate Hebrew bibliography."

2 different books bound together, both written by Solomon Blogg (Bloch), who founded the Hebrew printing press (with Telgener) in Hannover, and worked to spread Hebrew literacy among Jews and non-Jews alike. Both titles are written in Hebrew and Yiddish (more correctly, Hebrew transcription of German). The first title, Kohelet Shlomo, is an extensive manual to religious Jewish life. The different customs and prayers are listed and Hebrew, then translated and explained in Yiddish. The second title is a passover Haggadah, also with Yiddish translation and annotation. 215X170mm, 190+30 double pages. Grey quarter-cloth hardcover. Cover worn adn bumped. Cover peeling at edges. Spine torn. Pages yellowing, stained and wavy. Despite the aforementioned wear, these rare books are in good condition for reading.

A Montevideo-published Yiddish translation of Michal Borwiczs Dokumenty zbrodni I meczénstwa. Michal Borwicz (Maksymilian Boruchowicz) was born in Krakow in 1911, and died in Paris in 1987. A graduate of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, he was a Jewish Polish author and historian, who studied the history of Polish Jewry during the Holocaust. Borwicz was an inmate in the Janowska camp in Lwow from 1942-1943. He was sentenced to death by hanging, however when the sentence was being carried out, the rope broke. He escaped from the camp and joined the partisans and commanded an Armia Krajowa (AK) unit in the Krakow area. After the war, he headed the Jewish Historical Commission in Krakow from 1945 to 1947. After emigrating to France in 1947, he directed the Centre d'etude de l`histoire des Juifs (Polonais) (Center for Research of the History of the Jews of Poland) in Paris until his death.
