A volume of Biblical history (including a retelling of many Bible stories) , with moral notes by Heimann Schwabacher. It is designated on the title page as a work for more mature youth. The author is also known as Hayyim Hirsch Schwabacher, and is listed as the translator of Behinot Olam by Jedaiah ben Abraham Bedersi and also of Olelot Ha-Bohen (by the same author) . These are both works on ethics, and in both the German translation is transliterated using Hebrew letters. He also wrote a book in Yiddish on ethics, entitled Keren Tushiya (Fuerth, 1817) . Attractively bound in marbled boards and leather backstrip. Printed on ragpaper. Subjects: Bible Germany Haskalah. OCLC lists three copies, none of which seem to contain both parts (UCLA, HUC, Natl Libr Israel) , none east of Cincinnati. Light wear to hinges, otherwise verry clean and fresh. Very good condition.
