THIS VOLUME ONLY. RARE collection of texts in the Urmian dialect of Assyrian Neo-Aramaic, with Latin transcription and an accompanying Russian translation, the majority of the texts being tales and fables characteristic of Oriental folklore, with specimens of folk poetry. The Urmia dialect has become the prestige dialect of Assyrian Neo-Aramaic after 1836, when that dialect was chosen by Justin Perkins, an American Presbyterian missionary, for the creation of a standard literary dialect of Assyrian. 260x175mm.
