72391 October 1883. Piece of paper c.17.5 x 11cm fold mark down middle good condition. The initialled poem four lines is headed "Love" "Poor is the man who in self-hardened shell . . . . And grows to great estate by loving great and small." The next heading is "Life" folowed by the line "Why stay us on the earth unless to grow. Browning" followed by the heading "Evil" with the line "I gulp down the devil without looking at him. Goethe's Werther". This paper was accompanied in the source-album by an envelope front addressed by Blackie to "Mrs Thomson 3 Victoria Crescent Glasgow" with a postmark and his name presumably in Greek .I have seen an envelope addresssed to Gladstone with the same affectation in the BL collections. If the envelope belongs with the paper then speculation of a personal nature might be relevant. 1 October 1883. unknown

Therefore they are being published in a hard cover edition cloth bound 8-1/2 by 11 inches with large easy to read print in Greek with parallel English translations. It is in the same format as the more familiar Orthros published semi-annually. From the publisher about Vol. 2: "All the Orthros services from April to June for the Weekday celebration of Feast Days. Contained are all of the dramatic changes in rubrics and hymnology mandated during the Easter to Pentecost liturgical cycle; full and complete for every year from now until the year 2025. This makes it unique because though needed it has never before been attempted. This represents literally thousands of hours of work researching and calculating all the necessary changes. There are included for example eight 8 different ways to celebrate Orthros for the Feast Day of Saints Constantine and Helen. Other services included are: Saturday of the Souls for both Meat Fare and Pentecost; Lazarus Saturday; Ascension; and Mid-Pentecost. The other Saints' Days indicated by our Archdiocese for celebration are also included." The 2 volumes are uniformly bound in the original gilt-stamped maroon cloth. Oversize Hardcover.
