First edition.

Juan Súarez de Peralta was in an advantageous position to assemble information regarding the first contact between Indians and Spaniards in Mexico. Born in Mexico in 1537 he was the son of Juan Suarez whose sister Catalina had been the first wife of Hernando Cortes. His education hardly went beyond the basics of grammar but he developed his knowledge by reading and by personal contact with those who had participated in the Conquest. He lived in Mexico until 1579 when he traveled to Spain. He remained there at least until 1589 the year in which he completed the Tratado del descubrimiento de las Indias. He later returned to Mexico. The date and place of his death are unknown. It contains information on the history religion and customs of the Indians of central Mexico derived largely from Oviedo Motolina Sahagun and Las Casas. When Justo Zargoza 1833-1896 published the work for the first time 1878 he shortened the title to Noticias Históricas de la Nueva España. 19451665Buenos Aires: Republica Argentina Ministerio de Guerra 1945. Very Good. 33 cm. Typed letter signed by Perón on recto with typed response to his recommendations dated July 30 1945 on verso; corresponding stamps to both sides. Light edgewear; vertical creasing and two rough holes to left margin. A bureaucratic letter from Perón referencing a case brought against an unidentified soldier dressed in civilian clothing who appeared at the home address of one Captain Dumon and either requested or was given 20 pesos for a particular but unstated purpose. The soldier failed to deliver the money to the third party for whom it was intended and the captain filed a complaint with the military authorities; this went to the Auditor General and triggered an investigation. However the captain failed to show up to identify the soldier in question and because the soldier was in civilian clothing the case was referred to civilian authorities. It is not entirely clear to us why Perón was involved in this seemingly minor case but it appears that he was brought in as part of the investigation and that this letter is his department's response. He became President of Argentina a little less than a year later. Republica Argentina Ministerio de Guerra hardcover

By order of Philip V the viceroy of New Spain Conde de Fuenclara was commanded in 1740 to have a report prepared on the true condition of the provinces of his jurisdiction. The outcome of this commission by Fuenclara was the Theatro Americano descripción general de los reinos y provincias de la Nueva España y sus jurisdicciones. It appeared in two volumes in 1746 and 1748.
