[Treno-Roma] (17x24), pp. 154, ill. b.n. L¿autore, è noto al lettore di questa collana per avere scritto: - In treno da Roma a Firenze - La ferrovia da Verona a Monaco di Baviera. Con il grado di dirigente generale, è stato per otto anni, dal 1980 al 1988, direttore del Compartimento delle Ferrovie dello Stato di Roma, il più importante dei quindici Compartimenti in cui era divisa la rete ferroviaria italiana che comprendeva le linee insistenti oltre che sul territorio della Regione Lazio in parte anche su quello delle Regioni Toscana, Umbria, Abruzzo e Campania. L¿esperienza acquisita nei lunghi anni di tale dirigenza gli ha permesso il racconto storico di come sono venuti a formarsi nel tempo gli itinerari affluenti alla città di Roma, ma soprattutto di esaminare le difficoltà incontrate per il loro inserimento nel nodo ferroviario. La narrazione investe la storia delle stazioni del nodo ma soprattutto quella di Roma Termini. Nel racconto si inserisce il collegamento con la Città del Vaticano, e quello con l¿aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci a Fiumicino, del quale vengono narrate la storia e le vicissitudini che hanno coinvolto non solo le Ferrovie dello Stato, ma anche la Regione Lazio ed il Comune di Roma. Delle vicende vissute in prima persona viene descritto il lato umano dato alle stesse dai ferrovieri del tempo che ne sono stati sempre i veri protagonisti. Così infatti si esprime l¿autore :¿.mi auguro che il lettore gradisca la lettura di quest¿opera come ha gradito le due precedenti. Essa costituisce, con le altre due, il completamento della descrizione di parte, se pur modesta, della storia centenaria ferroviaria, quella parte cui fanno riferimento gli anni che, insieme ad amici, colleghi, collaboratori e dipendenti abbiamo di recente vissuto da protagonisti. Questi protagonisti, io li ringrazio tutti, nessuno escluso per i suggerimenti ed i consigli.Tutti insieme abbiamo infatti contribuito all¿ammodernamento in corso della rete ferroviaria nazionale del quale godrà la generazione che ci segue.
