Without the slipcase. Note: Although printed before WW2 it was held up in Italy during the war and not released until 1947. A very nice copy indeed. 1809688Westminster: NA 1809. Softcover. Fair. Legal document of George the III the King in whose reign the United States revolution took place. An interesting document labelled Essex Recovery. The form of the document is a parchment printed upon with King George the Third at the upper left and ""George the Third by the Grace of God"" across the top edge of the document. A headpiece illustrating the union of Scotland and England documents the top and allegorical columns decorate the outer margins with justice holding her sword a King and Queen's portrait the crown etc. An official stamp is at the upper left. At the bottom is the seal of the King although damaged. The manuscript portion of the work describes a legal finding by Judge James Mansfield Knight of Westminster which established that John Holdrich could take possession using the Sheriff of some disputed properties in Essex presumably debt recovery which is why the document is labelled Essex Recovery. There are some later notes in graphite on the main document and an ink inscription on the outer panel has a mid-19th century update note. Physical Attributes - Measures approx. 81.5 x 71 cm. Parchment with a legal form of George the Third printed on top; then the court notary wrote in manuscript the description of the court's decision. A stamp applied under the portrait of George III and a the seal of George the III assigned to the bottom of the document. Condition - See pictures. Folded some toning to outer exposed parchment. Seal heavily cracked/melted difficult to see the King's seal in it. Some odd creases along the edges. A little fading to the illustration along the right border. Some strikethroughs updates/etc in graphite. Pen note from the mid-19th century on the outer label noting an update. NA

Parkyns left England in 1842 and travelled for nine years spending three of those in Abyssinia where he lived much as a native of that country wearing the clothing eating the food and even working as a silversmith. Beverly Hills August 31 1957 written to Philadelphia Inquirer editor Harry Harris sharing information on their mutual friend -- novelty bandleader Spike Jones. In full: "I sincerely hope that you enjoy my new movie 'Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter'. I suppose you flipped as I did over Spike Jones' new album 'Dinner Music for People Who Aren't Very Hungry'. Love Jayne. P.S. Incidentally; Spike Helen and 'The Band That Plays For Fun' open at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas on Sept. 4." Three very light creases at the upper right hand margin that do not detract from the uniqueness of this item -- otherwise fine condition.<br/><br/> American film theater and television actress best known as a major sex symbol of the 1950s and early 1960s. She died in an automobile accident on June 29 1967 at age 34.<br/><br/> unknown books

A beautiful copy with only light rubbing to the board edges; spine a trifle darkened; previous owner name on the verso of the half title has been neatly effaced; some pencil notes and underlining have been erased from the title page otherwise clean throughout with only light age toning; folding map is very crisp. <br /> <br /> Posthumously published Mansfield's work includes a sketch of his life by Charles Kingsley along with a map portrait and in-text illustrations throughout. Mansfield was one of the earliest Englishmen to visit the capital of Paraguay and according to his biographer in the DNB "certainly the first to go there merely to take notes." In addition to his thoughts regarding the future of South America the DNB highlights the "bright and careful descriptions of Paraguayan society the scenery the plant and bird life" contained in these letters which include similar entries for the other stages of Mansfield's travels.
