A scarce work containing facsimiles and a transcript of eight pages of the diary of Thomas Greene as well as an Introduction and notes by Ingleby. Greene lived and worked in Stratford-Upon-Avon at the same time as Shakespeare was his tenant for some years and worked with him directly in opposing the proposed enclosure of the open fields at Welcombe which adjoined Stratford and which would have affected Shakespeare's personal land holdings. The six mentions of Shakespeare in the diary provide rare contemporary documentation of Shakespeare's whereabouts on specific dates and in one case of a conversation with the bard.
