Backstrip faded hinges cracked pages clean a good copy inscribed by the author.<br /> <br /> § First edition reverently inscribed by the author to Celia Clark a member of one of San Francisco's founding families wife of Charles Clark son of the Copper King and thus sister-in-law of the library founder William Andrews Clark Jr. The inscription reads "For Celia Clark this my own personal copy is inscribed with affection and humility by her devoted Joseph Auslander." Joseph Auslander 1897-1965 American poet was the Poet Laureate Consultant in English Poetry for the Library of Congress from 1937 to 1941. Celia Clark's sister Agnes Tobin was also a respected translator of Petrarch. unknown

Slipcase shows some rubbing scuffing and light discoloration as well as having a tear and discoloration on lower inside corner. Wax paper dust jacket shows some darkening and discoloration from age as well as some light creasing scuffing and shelf wear. Book shows some very light shelf wear. Limited Editions Club hardcover
