1848014338New York 1848. First edition. . Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. Textblock only missing rear board and spine; front board present. Includes some Poe content. In the December issue on page 718 there is a glowing review of Poe's tales mentioning "Rue Morgue" and "Usher" specifically. Included is a printing of the text of a brief 1842 letter from Poe to the unnamed reviewer. In the January issue on page 22 there are humorous verses about Poe's famously ferocious literary criticism. It begins: "With tomahawk upraised for deadly blow / Behold our literary Mohawk POE!." These pages also include offerings in the anonymously authored series "The Autobiography of a Monomaniac." Poe was suspected of being the author but in a private letter in 1849 he denied it. A interesting and scarce offering but condition poor. The first few pages of the July 1848 issues are missing else appears complete.

hardcover

16-4415Paris : Picart 1927. 4to. Original wraps creased on edges. Hors commerce presentation copy from the artist to Paul Lombard outside the edition of 215 copies. OCLC Number: 457935804.Gyula Zilzer 1898-1969 was a painter printmaker illustrator and film designer in Hollywood California and New York New York. Born in Budapest Hungary. Studied at the Hans Hofmann School in Munich. Provenance Estate of Paul Lombard. Expertise by Ségolène Beauchamp 86bis rue de Bellébat 45000 Orléans and Pierre Prévost 75 rue Michel Ange 75016 Paris.
