W. Leibniz, vale a dire un filo nel labirinto dei saperi e delle controversie che animarono la sua straordinaria biografia intellettuale. Favorito dall'anonimato oltreché dalla complicità di un allievo fidato (C. Wolff), il filosofo di Hannover ha avuto in più occasioni l'esigenza di tornare sui propri passi; se nell'autorecensione viene meno il riferimento a un interlocutore, degno di encomio o di biasimo, allora si è trovato al cospetto di sé medesimo, riflesso dall'opera.
