First titlepage and frontis are clearly from the 1855 edition toned and foxed and second titlepage clearly states John Camden Hotten 1859. All plates called for are present but one is bound before the second title page. The binding appears to be a re-bind incorporating the originall gilt stamped pebbled blue cover. As a curiosity I send for your acceptance a copy of the style of books prepared for children a half a century ago. It was presented to my wife when a child - and she remembers being charmed with it. You will serve the whole of it letterpress engraved. I made a note of it - "cucklen bch" - some time since in N.&Q. Believe me Very truly yours Edward Bradley". A PS concerning his son Cuthbert indirectly dates the letter to 1880. Cuthbert became a prolific painter of the British fox hunting scene. In the PS the father writes of his son's sketch appearing in "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News". Since the letter has Cuthbert as 19 at the time the sketch was an early work. . Bound in gray cloth with black lettering stamped on front board along with the blindstamp of the PEN emblem black lettering on spine. In the matching gray cloth slipcase. Light stains on cloth light loss to lettering on spine. Laid in is a "PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction" notecard on which is written "Lot of Love / Kay". Each author has signed his or her contribution. Of 44 deluxe copies this is one of 18 that are numbered this being number 16. The book is composed of short pieces addressing the subject of "obsession" that were read by prominent authors at the annual PEN gala in Washington DC in 1993. Contains several printed programs printed portraits of noted students newsletters post cards ephemera etc. all relating to the Class of 1936 Twentieth Anniversary Reunion held at the Tuskegee Institute March 23-25 during its 75th Anniversary Celebration. A few scattered tears at the edges of the envelope the envelope flap is mostly torn away a few internal materials are lightly rubbed along two or three old folds very good or better overall.<br /> <br /> Thelma Belcher’s “Welcome†packet of materials to her 20-year reunion of the Tuskegee Institute. Included is a spirited invitation letter from Laly Charlton Washington Miss Tuskegee 1935-36 along with multiple programs and associated ephemera. Also included is another invitation letter sent from Washington to Thelma’s classmate Ollie Belcher. Thelma and Ollie married in 1937 and the couple eventually settled in Detroit where she worked as a librarian and Ollie worked as a supervisor at Ford Motor Company. He was inducted into the Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1974. Each invitation letter is illustrated with a small halftone portrait of the recipient Thelma and Ollie presumably taken from a yearbook mounted at top left corner.<br /> <br /> A nice survival of materials documenting both the Class of ’36 reunion and the Tuskegee Institute’s 75th Anniversary Celebration.
