These are notes perhaps lecture notes on the Novum Organum and Bacon's work in general and thus offer an interesting 19th-century response to the text.Published in conjunction with a Latin edition of the Novum Organum with notes and appendices by Kitchin. George William Kitchin 1827-1912 scholar and dean of Durham. Kitchin had a successful career at Oxford where he was 'an important figure in the development of teaching in modern humanities subjects' ODNB before becoming first Dean of Durham and then Chancellor of Durham University. This translation of the Novum Organum and the accompanying edition of the Latin original were his first published works. This is the third English translation of the Novum Organum following translations of 1733 and 1831 the latter condemned for its 'radical faults' in the preface to this vol. Scarce. ~Robust packaging.
