Bound in the original black cloth lettered in gold on the spine and front cover. Pages are clean and crisp. This is the first printing as described in Hanneman's Hemingway bibliography. With Scribner seal and "A" on the copyright page. This copy has the first issue dust jacket with "Ernest Hemingway" and "Scribner's" printed in yellow lettering on the spine. The second issue DJ has orange lettering for these instead. NOTE OF CAUTION: some booksellers mention "yellow background" but that is NOT determinative of a first issue DJ since both issues of the jacket have a yellow background behind the black lettered spine title.
