Premiered in 1900 this six act play by Edmond Rostand is based on the life of Napoleon II the son of Emperor Napoleon I and his second wife Empress Marie Louise. The title The Eaglet stems from a nickname for the younger Napoleon. Published in French. The French poet and dramatist's play was premiered in 1900 by Sarah Bernhardt at her own theatre. In a quarter cloth binding over patterned boards. Externally smart. Very lightly rubbed to the boards with a small chip in the paper to the front board. A little bumped and worn to the extremities. The spine is discoloured. Internally firmly bound. Aside from some light foxing to the endpapers pages are clean if a little age-toned. Very Good Charpentier et Fasquelle hardcover
