I of the Memoirs of Great-Britain & Ireland from the Dissolution of the Last Parliament of Charles II 1771 by Sir John Dalrymple 17261810. "Illustrated by collections of state papers from Versailles and London these Memoirs caused some sensation from their revelations as to the motives actuating some of the more eminent statesmen of that time" DNBespecially Lord Russell and Algernon Sydney. The second pagination sequence contains letters in support of the pamphlet "From the Public Advertiser. March 5 1773" and a "List of books printed for J. Almon. <br>Â Â Â Â <br>Â Â Â Â ESTC T12257. On Dalrymple see: The Dictionary of National Biography XIII 42425. Removed from a nonce volume; first and last pages soiled; 6-digit number rubber-stamped on title-page. A bit dusty faint old stamps of a defunct mercantile library but a good copy. First edition of the first part; a second part 19pp was published early the following year. An assemblage of ruminations extending from the macro to the micro beginning with the effects of the Great Flood on nature and men the development of commerce and finally commerce and trade affecting Ireland with abundant reference to Molyneux Petty et al. Pages 70-79 consist of over one hundred queries in the style of Berkeley. Both parts were reprinted in London and Goldsmiths lists only the 1774 London printing of the second part. HIGGS 5612. 179820048Newburyport: Printed by Angier March 1802 & 1798. <br /><br />Two pamphlets stitched together into contemporary unbleached heavy cartridge paper 8 x 5 inches 14 2; 18 pages. The second title is completely untrimmed. Stated eleventh edition of the first title; first edition of the second. <br /><br />"Therefore my child as a good soldier of Jesus Christ gird up the loins of your mind." The first title was originally published in Boston in 1746 and seems to have been something of an evergreen bit of piety; it was relatively soon after this that it was picked up as an American Tract Society title. This edition concludes with two poems "The Advantages of Early Religion" and "Thoughts on God and Death." <br /><br />The somewhat more uncommon second title seems only to have been published in this edition; the tentative publication date is assigned by Evans. This copy of the <i>Letter from a Father</i> is bound without the final three blank leaves. March was a fairly active printer bookseller newspaper publisher and circulating library proprietor in Newburyport. <i>American Imprints</i> 2504 <i>Letter from a Solicitous Mother</i>; Evans 33994 <i>Letter from a Father</i>. <br /><br />With the ink ownership inscription to the title page of the first title of Abigail Moulton a name seemingly common enough in Newburyport of that period. Wrappers a bit stained and worn; cheap paper of the first title browned throughout; in very good condition. Printed by Angier March books

Luckman 1768. 8vo. 2 32 pp. <br><br>A reply to Stephen Addingtons Eusebes to Philetus: a series of letters from a father to a son; it Includes Eusebes' letter to Philetus one pp. 1-6.<br>Â Â Â Â ESTC gives this as "Second edition" which words are not found on the title-page here and does so without listing any other edition! ESTC locates only two copies worldwide one in Wales and the other being this copy now deacessioned. But WorldCat locates two more copies one in Scotland and one in Kentucky.<br>Â Â Â Â A check of the Scottish OPAC shows that is a false report being for a microform copy. The copy in Wales is the source of the "Second edition" and that OPAC reports a typographical error on the title-page not found on this copy. The copy in Kentucky is a bit miscatalogued as to publisher and imprint data. <br>Â Â Â Â <br>Â Â Â Â ESTC T170992. Removed from nonce volume. Title-page slightly darkened.
