Sue graduated from Harrison-Draughon School of Commerce in Atlanta and attended the Atlanta Division University of Georgia. She worked in the legal department of the Coca-Cola Company and later was the bookkeeper for the family pharmaceutical businesses.; Her husband Eugene L. "Gene" Argo 1932-2008 was a graduate of Decatur Boys High School and served in the Korean War with the United States Coast Guard. Argo attended Emory University and graduated from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 1958 with a B.S. degree in pharmacy. While attending college Argo began working at Stacy's Pharmacy on Scott Boulevard in Decatur in 1955. In 1960 he became Vice President and co- owner of Stacy's and in 1967 he became President and owner. Argo opened a second pharmacy Stacy's Pharmacy at Emory Village in 1973. After selling both Stacy's locations in 1998 Argo opened Stacy's Compound Pharmacy where he worked until his retirement. He was appointed by Governors George Busbee and Joe Frank Harris to terms on the Georgia Board of Pharmacy. ; Herman Eugene Talmadge served as governor of Georgia in 1947 and from 1948 to 1955 and as a U.S. senator from Georgia from 1957 to 1981.He began his career as a staunch segregationist known for his opposition to civil rights including supporting legislation that would have closed public schools to prevent desegregation.3 By the later stages of his career following the enactment of the Voting Rights Act which gave substance to the Fifteenth Amendment enacted nearly one hundred years before and increased African American voter participation Talmadge like many other Southern politicians of that period had modified his views on race. Talmadge was a long-serving member of the Senate Agriculture Committee as well as the Senate Finance Committee. 197612798San José: Fidelity Printing 1976. The only book of poetry by San Quentin Six defendant Luis Talamantez who began writing poetry in prison. In 1965 Talamantez was sentenced to two life sentences for an armed robbery that netted him $130. He began to organize Chicano inmates and was singled out for harassment by the prison administration. Following George Jackson's failed August 1971 escape attempt in which he was shot dead rioting took place that led to the death of three guards and two inmates. Talamantez along with Fleeta Drumgo David Johnson Willie Tate Hugo Pinell and John Larry Spain were accused of conspiracy and murder but after the longest trial in California's history the men were found not guilty in January 1974 and Talamantez was released in 1976 the year this book was published. <br /> <br /> The book includes a preface written for Talamantez by New Mexico activist leader Antonio Cordova who was killed in a state police ambush in 1972. This is followed by two dozen poems nearly all on the theme of imprisonment.<br /> <br /> Trade paperback format 96 p. illustrations throughout by Sue Martinez. This copy INSCRIBED by Talamantez on the title page. Light wear to covers four lines highlighted in one of the poems but a very good copy overall. Fidelity Printing unknown

Illustrated with etchings engravings and lithographs by Paul Vera Roger de la Fresnaye Andre Mare Louis Sue Marie Laurencin Jean-Emile Laboureur Dunoyer de Segonzac and others. An important and significant work on interior design and architecture published during the Art Deco era the superb plates are largely engraved by Jacques Villon. After the War Sue and Mare designed the victory celebrations in Paris to memorialize the end of the War. They co-founded the Compagnie des Arts Francais manufacturing Art Deco furniture and interior decorations including wallpaper tapestries silverware and ceramics. Sue was also a very successful architect for example designing the industrial town of Lens-Mericourt the year after this work was published. André-Charles Mare was a French painter and textile designer and co-founder of the Company of French Art in 1919. He was a designer of colorful textiles and was one of the founders of the Art Deco movement. Interior contents generally clean. All plates with tissue guards. Slight toning to front cover perimeters. The Wandering Jew French: Le Juif errant is an 1844 novel by the French writer Eugène Sue. Two figures cry out to each other across the Bering Straits. One is the Wandering Jew the other his sister Hérodiade. Wherever the Wandering Jew goes the cholera epidemic follows in his wake. The siblings are condemned to wander the earth until the entire Rennepont family has disappeared from the earth as Hérodiade's descendants are also the descendants of Marius de Rennepont Huguenots persecuted under Louis XIV by the Jesuits. The siblings are compelled to eternally protect that family. The Renneponts meanwhile are unaware that their protectors exist. The family lost its position and most of its wealth during the French persecution of the Protestants after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. A small fortune was given to a Jewish banker before the Renneponts dispersed all over Europe and Asia and this fortune has grown into a huge sum because of compound interest. In 1682 each Rennepont got a bronze medal telling them to meet back in Paris 150 years later at which time the fortune will be divided among the surviving members. So much time has passed however that almost none of the still-living Renneponts have any idea why they need to come to Paris. They nevertheless set out from India Siberia America France and elsewhere to make their way to rue Saint-François No. 3 in Paris by 13 February 1832. The members of the family are not only dispersed all over the world but also all over the social ladder as laborers factory owners and the independently wealthy. In India one Rennepont is a prince. The Jesuits have heard of this huge fortune and want to have it. Jesuit Père d'Aigrigny is in charge of obtaining the money for the Society of Jesus and dispossessing the Renneponts. Their plan is to have only the unwitting Gabriel Rennepont the Jesuit missionary show up to claim the fortune. Since he is a monk and can have no possessions of his own the fortune will go to the Jesuits. Gabriel entered the order because his pious mother manipulated by the Jesuits persuaded him to become a member. The Jesuits have spies all over the world and use them to put obstacles in the paths of the Renneponts as they make their way back to Paris. The John C. Winston Co hardcover
