Octavo not illustrated pp 316 slight foxing to the fore-edge and very occasionally internally the first few pages have very faint creases or fold-marks which are obviously minor production faults otherwise extremely clean internally violet cloth very slightly faded at the edges and just slight suggestions of wear the dustwrapper lacks the bottom half of the spine and is a little age-toned and chipped at the edges but now enclosed in a removable clear cover. The poster has been folded four times with the reverse on the outside. All four corners have several tiny pin holes and ther are two corners with bumping. The poster is for the most part clean and bright without chips edge nicks or fading. The Reverse of the posterhas red ink stamped notations: "2001 Space Odyssey followed by 1 SH D /103G on the bottom corner of the reverse of the poster. "US style D poster was created for 'wild' pastings on New York City walls subways and temporary structures. MGM commissioned this poster for the film's 70 mm re-launch in New York City in 1969. This poster features the star child floating in an iris. The release of the 70 mm film helped to make it a commercial and critical success. As this poster was designed for 'wild' pasting only unused posters could have survived. First published in 1750 this early science fiction/fantasy novel combines elements of Gulliver’s Travels Robinson Crusoe Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Pellucidar along with objections to slavery and a race of flying men and women on the island of Nosmnbdsgrutt. Bawden 1903-1989 was a noted printmaker illustrator watercolourist and designer as well as garden designer.
