Cette facétie satirique en vers qui stigmatise Desfontaines et Fréron est suivie de deux autres qui avaient également été imprimées séparément la même année : La Vanité et la Requête de Jérôme Carré ces deux dernières brocardent en particulier Le Franc de Pompignan. Bengesco I n°681. Voltaire suppose qu'un pauvre diable vient lui demander conseil sur l'emploi qu'il doit et peut choisir. E' la seconda edizione dopo la prima del 1753 ed è poco diversa da quella anche se non identica come alcuni sostengono senza averla collazionata con 59 pagine invece di 53. Sarà la terza del 1755 Berlin a raddoppiare la lunghezza e a diventare il testo di riferimento. Ma le texte de cette première édition a pourtant eu une influence importante et bien qu'après 1755 les contemporains ne précisent plus a quel des deux textes ils se réfèrent il est vraisemblable que cette influence se soit prolongée au-delà de cette date Loic Charles. 9- NOURRITURE POUR LES PAUVRES OU RIZ ECONOMIQUE tres-sain et tres-nourissant approuvé par lòa Faculté de Médicine. 1922 suite of 40 signed etchings for Voltaire’s Princesse de Babylone

1922C00008408Munich 1922. First printing. Hardcover. Very good. No. XVII of 35 sets of the 20 etchings in two states proof and finished each signed and numbered. The published text volume was printed in an edition of 250 copies with 20 etchings by Friedrich Heubner similarly bound in vellum. 35 of those were accompanied by this portfolio bound in full vellum 13 x 10.25 inches housing the 40 etchings each of which is numbered in pencil and signed all in very good or better condition occasional light signs of wear one plate with some tanning. Friedrich Heubner 1886-1974 was a Munich-based artist illustrator and graphic designer associated with "Die Sechs" a group of young modernist artists and he was also loosely associated with both the Berlin and Munich Secession movements. Primarily an illustrator his works appeared in Jugend Simpliccimus and Die Gartenlaube. The book which this suite accompanies can often be found for sale online. hardcover
