Ahmed Saib was born in 1859 in Dagestan. After completing his education in military schools in the Russian Empire, he entered the service of the Ottoman Empire with the rank of captain. He was in the Sultan Abdulhamid II's Hassa Cavalry Regiment and under the aide of Gazi Ahmed Muhtar Pasha, the Extraordinary Commissioner of Egypt. Later, he left his military service and published the newspaper Sancak (1899-1907), which spread the ideas of Ottoman liberals against the tyranny of the sultan since 1899 in Egypt, in the city of Cairo, and included articles on the constitutional struggle and the political structure of the period. Murad V was the 33rd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire who reigned from 30 May to 31 August 1876. The question of Sultan Murad V's enthronement in 1876 was a very strategic move for the Young Turks in its period. Only three copies in OCLC: 427392804.; Özege 19913. First and Only Edition.

Signed, without inscription, by author atop front free endpaper. pp. 248. "A compelling indictment of war by a man who knows it as few men do! Sergeant Reinhold Pabel of the 115th Panzer Grenadiers of Hitler's First Army switched lives when he escaped from an Illinois prisoner of war camp in 1945. The man who faced Russian guns in the Ukraine, battled the Americans in Italy and looked out through the barbed wire of a prisoner of war compound in the United States, became, in a remarkably short time, a respected American businessman whose past was unsuspected by his friends, associates or local police. When the FBI finally tracked him down, they found only Philip Brick, quiet proprietor of one of Chicago's North Side bookstores. His is a vivid, eyewitness account of the Russian campaign as seen by a slogging German foot soldier. He was transfered to Sicily and Italy where he was taken prisoner and sent to North Africa, then Camp Grant in Illinois, from which he escaped before being captured in 1953. The wonder of Pabel's story lies in his human touch. Without wild fanatic shouts of protest or of flag waving, he presents and illustrates a concept of vital importance to today's world." - dust jacket. This has seemed one good reason to compile a book 'out of' the remains of my performances, letting the language fall where it may. Let it be said simply 'She usually makes performances and has also made a book.' There can be no comparison, therefore no need for apology." - Introduction. Unmarked. Binding tight. Silverfish markings to publisher's black cloth. Openings to top and central portion of backstrip. Somewhat above-average external wear. Somewhat above-average wear and minimal library markings to dust jacket which is now preserved in archival-grade Brodart. Book

Its origin was so shrouded in humble obscurity, and the rapidity with which it sprang forward to prosperity and fame was alike so extraordinary and so remarkable, that the public gaze has been kept by a species of fascination upon the movements of the well-known fianciers. From one corner of the world to the other the success of the Rothschilds has been the subject of universal wonder and envy." - from pages 1-2. Above-average wear. Front hinge open. Library binding.
