This is the last work of Charles Nodier who died in January 1844. It is his description of his own highly important library in its final state before it was sent to auction in 1844. Nodier had previously consigned books to auction from his library in 1827 and 1830. The present work contains the 36 page life of Nodier by Francis Wey but as often it is without the 7 page introduction and 2 or 3 short additions which were only added to a few copies. 1254 books are described often with detailed notes. A good copy of this posthumous bibliophilic miscellany by Charles Nodier 1780-1844 member of the Académie française and librarian of the Arsenal published in the year of his death. One of the central figures of early French Romanticism Nodier was renowned for his erudition his influential literary salon at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal his role as founder of the Bulletin du bibliophile and his pioneering contribution to the development of modern bibliophily. Preceded by an introduction by G. Duplessis a biographical notice by Francis Wey dated February 1844 and a bibliographical notice of Nodier's works. The catalogue comprises descriptions of 1254 works some accompanied by Nodier's notes and includes an alphabetical index of authors and anonymous works; it also contains his review of Duverger's Histoire de l'invention de l'imprimerie par les monuments 1840.
