In Very Good condition with a Good case. Booklet and plates are housed in a maroon morocco slipcase with gilt lettering and ruling on the lid. Booklet is in marbled paper wrappers with maroon lettering on a red label; plates mounted within individual paper folders. Case is rubbed along the edges. Lid is separated from the case due to splitting along the hinge. Light cracking to leather along the side panel. Booklet is age toned with some very light wrinkling around the label. Some creasing along the spine. Text block is clean. Some of the plates have come loose from their mounting but remain within their paper folders. All plates remain present and intact. Housed in a protective archival sleeve. Shelved in Room A.</p> . <p>This copy is number #40 out of 500. Per the limitation page copies 1 to 100 of this limited run were issued in morocco cases while the remaining 400 were kept in half linen cases. Also worth noting is that while the text booklet describes 62 illustrations only 50 of these illustrations are included on engraved plates. Due to a dispute with some of the owners at the time of publication the "missing" illustrations were never put onto plates; illustrations 5 6 23-28 39 47 59 and 62 are instead included within the text booklet itself. He earned his Master of Arts degree in 1960 from Harvard University and PhD from Harvard while working under joint supervision of Martin Gouterman and Nobelist William N. Lipscomb Jr. In 1965 he went to Cornell University and remained there where he is a professor emeritus. Hoffmann's research and interests have been in the electronic structure of stable and unstable molecules and in the study of transition states in reactions. For this work Hoffmann received the 1981 Nobel Prize in chemistry sharing it with Japanese chemist Kenichi Fukui who had independently resolved similar issues.</p> W.H. Freeman and Co. hardcover

Edited by the Berlin Chief Officer of Building Construction and City Architect Ludwig Hoffmann it is replete with architectural drawings photos of interiors details and full elevation images. The deluxe edition the Lieber-Ausgabe published for architecture enthusiasts were limited to only 20 copies. The plates appear to be mounted original photographs and each has a tissue guard. These folios rank among the most important architectural publications of this era. Condition very good with some fading and wear on the folio covers.
